April, the month of prosperity and travel!

Finally the first day of the financial year opens its arms. Many celebrate it as the 'Fools' day but to me it is a day that opens a month full of prosperity (many of us get our bonus pay this month!), fun n frolic!

April is the month when the ripest of Alphonso Mangoes flood the markets. It is a month when the birds twitter around full bloom branches and the month that brings in a lot of travel with the family!

April also brings in the auspicious moment of Akshay Tritiya, a day which is integral for new beginnings in the traditional Indian homes. This year it is being celebrated on 21st April.

February, a month that celebrates love!

After a few grilling months of cold comes a month where warmth and love fill the air. New relationships strengthen while many mature. All in all, seems like a great time in the year to make some serious merry! :)

January; 'The door to the year' in Latin.

January (in Latin, Ianuarius) is named after Janus, the God of beginnings and transitions; the name has its beginnings in Roman mythology, coming from the Latin word for door (ianua) since January is the door to the year.

Traditionally, the original Roman calendar consisted of 10 months totaling 304 days, winter being considered a month-less period. Around 713 BC, the semi-mythical successor of Romulus, King Numa Pompilius, is supposed to have added the months of January and February, allowing the calendar to equal a standard lunar year (354 days). Although March was originally the first month in the old Roman Calendar, January became the first month of the calendar year under either Numa or the Decemvirs about 450 BC (Roman writers differ). In contrast, specific years pertaining to dates were identified by naming two consuls, who entered office on May 1 and March 15 until 153 BC, when they began to enter office on January 1.

Various Christian feast dates were used for the New Year in Europe during the Middle Ages, including March 25 and December 25. However, medieval calendars were still displayed in the Roman fashion of twelve columns from January to December. Beginning in the 16th century, European countries began officially making January 1 the start of the New Year once again—sometimes called Circumcision Style because this was the date of the Feast of the Circumcision, being the seventh day after December 25.

Historical names for January include its original Roman designation, Ianuarius, the Saxon term Wulf-monath (meaning wolf month) and Charlemagne's designation Wintarmanoth (winter / cold month). In Slovene, it is traditionally called prosinec. The name, associated with millet bread and the act of asking for something, was first written in 1466 in the Škofja Loka manuscript.

According to Theodor Mommsen (The History of Rome, volume 4, The Revolution, ISBN 1-4353-4597-5, page 4), 1 January became the first day of the year in 600 AUC of the Roman Calendar (153 BC), due to disasters in the Lusitanian War. A Lusitanian chief called Punicus invaded the Roman territory, defeated two Roman governors, and slew their troops. The Romans resolved to send a consul to Spain, and in order to accelerate the dispatch of aid, "they even made the new consuls enter on office two months and a half before the legal time" (15th of March).

I hope to bring alive my world of images as chronicles for my readers. I hope to weave in the magic of my inspiration through words and bring alive the journey of my captures for everyone of you. I hope that I will find many more new friends here and I do look forward to hear from each one of you personally. It boosts the spirits to know that my work has touched so many souls!

Sensuous2Spiritual: A quick introduction
Sensuous2Spiritual is a photoblog that depicts my life inspirations captured through my lens.
Its a depiction of my life and my journey. I share all the moments which are filled with feelings of spiritualism, emotions, celebrations; all the sensations that fill me with heartfelt gratitude of living this life.

Who am I?
Cancerian by nature, apart from being an all time romantic I am known for my obsession to explore. I believe in positive energy around me and focus at reflecting this across every interaction of mine. I cherish relationships. I usually get into trouble because of my strong point of views, which does make me not wanted many a times. Who cares, I believe in the liberty of speech and choose to exercise this whenever I feel it’s appropriate. :)

What's new at Sensuous2Spiritual?
I have been documenting a lot of my images but every capture has a story that needs words.
In 2015 I hope to bring you my inspirations in the form of a story and bring alive the thought that made me capture the moods.
